My Story

I’m Cara. Nice to meet you!

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in December, 2017 with two majors: Journalism, with a focus on strategic communications, and French. I aspire to pursue a career in which I can utilize my strong background in communications to strengthen a brand that I feel passionately about. After graduating, I packed up and headed west to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to spend the winter taking in all things mountain- the skiing, the quaint town, the great people, the lack of oxygen, etc. Man, did I have a great time. After a successful and rejuvenating season, I returned to my hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, where I found an amazing opportunity to join the team at a local strategic marketing agency called Giant Voices.

In this role, I spent my days writing and analyzing content for over 20 clients across a huge range of industries. Huge range? I’m talking law firm to brewery, and everything in between. I planned and wrote organic and paid social media content, email sends, newsletters and press releases, often creating graphics to share with the content, too. It’s a great challenge to plan content that fits with each company’s unique audience, and it’s a great reward to pull together analytics reports at the end of the month and see that my messages were well received.

After taking some time to gain immeasurable experience in the agency setting, I decided that my skills would be better put to use helping companies with in-house marketing needs. Now I use my communications skills to focus on a couple great companies and help them reach new levels through marketing.

Have I told you I love words?

Well, I do

I’m a detail-oriented, multifaceted communicator who understands the value of words. Words are powerful. When they’re partnered with visual cues and put in the right place at the right time, they’re unstoppable. Each word I write and each design I create serves a purpose. Each platform on which I share content was chosen for a reason.

My work is relevant, creative, and above all, purposeful. Thank you for taking a minute to learn a little about who I am and what I aspire to be. I encourage you to take a look at my Work Samples and feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to collaborating with you to help your business move mountains. Thanks for the visit!
